Project 365

Hello all! Way back in January, I started a digital scrapbooking project called "Project 365" where I take a photo of something significant/funny/interesting that happened everyday. I can't believe I have stuck with it! Anyhow, I decided it would be fun, since I am into digital scrapbooking, to make a nice hardbound book of it all at the end of the year. So I am going to post the pages I made here for you all to see what we have been up to. (I know....I know...I have been terrible at making updated posts this past summer. It's pathetic how easily I lose focus and interest in some things.)

Hope you enjoy looking at the everyday photo pages! By the way...congrats to those of you who are so awesome and keep your blogs updated for me to spy on you all the time! I love to hear from you and read your blogs!

P.S. If you're interested in making a book just like mine, I used the really cute digital scrapbooking kits from a site called Weeds and Wildflowers. The kits are from a series named "Sweet & Simple Life" by designed Gina Marie Huff. They are still up for sale if you are interested.

Run, run, Rudolph...

I started training for the half marathon today that my friend somehow got me to agree to. I ran for 2.25 miles at 6mph without stopping and that was so hard!!! I don't think I am going to be able to run anywhere close to 13.1 miles. I don't know how people run a freakin' marathon. So hard. Wish me luck at somehow making it to 3 miles without stopping. I'm going to need it.

You are not alone.

We had an awesome Relief Society lesson from our RS President yesterday and I thought I would share a little bit of the message she gave. It really made me think and inspired me to be better.

Heavenly Father gives us trials and even though it pains him to watch us struggle, we need to experience these tribulations in order to become "refined." Malachi 3:3 says: "He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." What does this statement mean about the character and nature of God? And how does this scripture apply to us and the trials we must go through in this life?

You will find the answer in the following story:
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study, and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn’t mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.
As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot then she thought again about the verse that says: “He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.” She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, “How do you know when the silver is fully refined?”
He smiled at her and answered, “Oh, that’s easy-when I see my image in it.”

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in your countenance.
