Our 15 minutes... or rather 2 pages... of fame

Chad and I got featured today in our local newspaper, The Salt Lake Tribune. It was a boring article on refinancing/real estate in today's economy. Here's the link if you are interested... http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/home/50211871-76/mortgage-percent-rate-refinancing.html.csp

I'd like to make myself believe that Planet Earth turns slowly

I made a blogwear set that includes a background, labels, a divider, and headers. It's available on my digital scrapbooking blog, Redhead Scraps, if you are interested. (or just click on the image below, if you want to download it!) I am using it on the scrapping blog right now if you want to see it in action. Here is the preview of the set:
Download here on 4shared. Enjoy and have a great day!

Dead and gone

I got my hair cut in half a few weeks ago and I forgot to post pictures of the before and afters.  It has been about 2 years since I cut my hair.  I know... I am cheap like that.  I donated 14 inches to Pantene: Beautiful Lengths.  I chose them instead of Locks of Love because Beautiful Lengths gives their wigs away for free to cancer patients; whereas, Locks of Love charges a fee for their wigs and they also sell "unusable" donated hair.  (In 2005, they sold $352,401 of donated hair... kinda sketchy.)  So here are my pics....

What do you think?

Video Killed the Radio Star

If video killed the radio star, is Facebook aka. social networking killing the personal Blog? Just seems like fewer and few people are using them, reading them, and posting to them for personal things like pictures and such.

On the other hand, I see more technical business related blogs than ever popping up all over. It's like having your own column for that forum. . .

Just my two bits worth,
-Chad

Charity never faileth... or does it?

I found this a bit disturbing ... I saw a guy named Steven Fales on facebook from a friend of a friend and thought maybe he was the guy married to my friend at BYU named Charity. ---Yes so her married name was Charity Fales. (Her maiden name was just as funny though, Charity Ball.)--- but come to find out this Steven Fales is far from being the married type...well to a girl anyway...lol

You are beautiful in every single way

I got Photoshop Elements 7 from my sister Emily for Christmas and I finally really got to play with it and create something. I found this adorable digital scrapbooking kit called "Bloomin' Beautiful" over at Mel's Lightbulb Moments and decided to make a blog layout out of it. Chad says it turned out "too busy" but it's my first try at making one so I thought it was pretty cute. I love the colors in the kit. What do you guys think?

A hunting we will go...

I just found out about this: (I guess I am probably the last to find out about it...typical)
There is a free global treasure hunt called Geocaching that's being played worldwide. Geocaches are hidden containers that are found using coordinates and a GPS unit. There are literally thousands to be found in the Salt Lake City area alone. In fact, Utah has more geocaches hidden per capita than any other state in the country!

The hidden caches always contain a log book and a pen/pencil. People who find the cache are asked to record the date and time they were there, and most people also record some thoughts. The cache usually also contains some "treasures" - wooden nickels, coins, bubbles, whistles, stickers, pens, misc little toys, postcards, etc. People are welcome to remove an item from the cache, but it's considered bad form not to replace the item with something else. Hit the dollar store before heading out on geocaching adventures to stock up on things to leave in the caches. You can make notes in the log book about any items traded, or you can record the trades on the . geocaching website.

Is that not the coolest global thing you have ever heard of? I thought so. (But maybe you heard it already years ago.... I am 30 now so give this old person a break.)

Like poetry, you're hiding behind the words you speak.

(Emily, this post is in honor of your post and I do read your blog.)

April is National Poetry Month and I found this cute children's book at Alli's school Book Fair the other day: Dogku by Andrew Clements. I love it cause it's all written in Haiku. Here are some that I wrote today for each of my kids and one for me (I know they aren't that good but they're poems):

Tyler

I'm a smiley guy.
An angel sent from above
Laugh, always so good.

Jeremy (couldn't decide which one was better... probably both bad.)

Because I can't talk
I cry, mumble and point lots.
Also love to eat.

Eat Cry Play Eat Cry,
Point Eat Grunt Eat Mumble Eat
Eat Eat Eat Eat Eat.

Drew

I am so happy,
I am not happy but mad,
Happy again smile.

Allison

Love to dance, draw, dogs.
Big sister, good example,
Kind, pretty, Sweetheart.

My Life

Feed Baby, Diapers,
Food, Clothes, Feed Baby, Clean, Baths
Feed Baby, Bedtime.

He's a tramp, but I love him. Breaks a new heart, everyday.

I read a post on my sister Emily's blog that brought the Delta: Fly-In Movies to my attention. They were made for a competion celebrating the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. "Gerald's Last Day" is sad but cute. "Eight Percent" is awkward but funny. They are worth watching. Check them out.
